I’ve avoided listening to classical music after my soulmate left in January — it was his favorite genre.
Even hearing familiar songs we both enjoyed would have me collapse in a sobbing session and I’d have to turn off the volume.
Over the months, the raw grief has retreated and I’m able to enjoy music again for the sweet memories and peace it brings — tears of joy, not sorrow as I navigate each tomorrow.
Except for classical music.
