Thank you for this enlightening article. I have a fascination for neuroscience from the perspective of how our brains work and find it reassuring that my senior years affect my working memory - at times I can't remember my mobile number and have to look it up.

I'm content to be a wise old woman rather than the know-it-all I was in my youth.

I'm applying the principle of remembering/forgetting in dealing with my grief at the recent passing of my husband; rewiring my brain to prioritize happy emotions (restoration orientation process) to memories of him over the reality he's no longer here (loss orientation process).

It's a work in progress but am making inroads.
