Just Because It’s on YouTube Doesn’t Mean It’s Legit

The fact comments are turned off should warn you this is a scam

I came across an ad on YouTube the other day which caught my attention.

The Phoxfer USB Stick!

The crafty copy writing drew me in with claims of a revolutionary breakthrough in flash drive technology. They didn’t reveal the price, but emphasised their 50% discount offer expired in the next 24 hours.

The tight deadline should have been a red flag, but my curiosity won out. The benefits of large storage capacity, device compatibility and military-grade encryption appealed to me.

A bargain!

BTW, I don’t back up my files to cloud storage as my broadband internet connection is SUPER SLOW. When I up-graded to Windows 10, I gave up trying to save my files to One Drive on my first attempt — four hours later it wasn’t even halfway through the process!

So I continued backing up to my flash drive — reliable, affordable, and may be old-fashioned, but it works. Windows 10 doesn’t detect duplicate files like Windows 7, so backing up off-line is also a lengthy process — I have to delete the previous back ups off the drive, to make room for my current folders and files.
